NLDS Champs!!

Although Albert did not get a hit, he made a huge difference with his 6th inning walk, coming around to score the go ahead, and winning run as the Cardinals defeated the Padres 6-2 to clinch the National League Division Series. Albert in the series went 5-15 with a homerun and 3 rbi's.

Now it is on to the Championship Series against the heavily favored New York Mets. Game 1 will feature Tom Glavine against Jeff Weaver. For all of Albert's NLCS stats check out the column on the right hand side. Also, his career numbers against Glavine have been pretty good, but one thing is missing- a homerun. Let's hope Albert gets his first on Wednesday!

Cardinals win! Look to take command on Thursday

Our man Albert did it again! His two run homerun in the top of the third inning proved to be the game winner as the Cardinals beat the Padres 5-1 yesterday in the first game of a best of five series. Chris Carpenter went 6 1/3 strong innings, followed by Tyler Johnson, and Adam Wainwright as the Cardinals looked good in their win. For the first time in a long time the "A" lineup was in play for the Cardinals. With Edmonds back and healthy, along with Eckstein, the Cardinals bats are in place.

Now, on Thursday at 3pm the Cardinals will face the Padres tough lefty David Boomer Wells. Wells is 4-1 career against the Cardinals, and has had GREAT postseason success in his career. Our man Albert is 3-9 career against Wells, but has not hit a homerun yet off him. With Albert's 2-4, that pushed his career NLDS batting average to .310, and put his total homeruns in NLDS to 4.

Jeff Weaver will pitch for the Cardinals Thursday!

Keep checking back here for great postseason coverage!

Now we move to the postseason. The Cardinals will most likely face Padres ace Jake Peavy on Tuesday at 3pm. Albert's numbers against Peavy are posted in the matchup column on the right, along with his final season numbers in the stats watch.

A new section was added on the right hand side of the page, and it is Albert's career NLDS numbers. Check them all out, and continue to stop by all weeks as we hope to have continous coverage of Albert and the Cardinals post season ride all the way to the 2006 World Series..
