What a terrible game again for the Cardinals losing 6-2 at San Francisco. It was an even worse night for Albert. Albert went 0-3 and had an error in the field and dropped another ball that should have been caught. He also got hit by a pitch. When it rains it pours I guess.
The Cardinals now move to 6-9 on the season 3 games out of first place and a half game ahead of the last place Cubs. Pujols lowered his average to .190 on the year. The Cardinals now travel to Wrigley Field for a midwest showdown of the two cellar dwellars in the NL Central.

This one hurt. The Cardinals fell 6-5 at San Francisco in 12 innings. Albert Pujols came with his bat as he ended 3-5 including a 2 run bomb off former teammate Matt Morris. This moved Albert’s average up to .200 on the season. He did make one very foolish running mistake in the later innings. Albert got on 3rd with 2 outs. As the pitch was being delivered he broke for home. The pitcher managed to pitchout and they smoked him at the plate. What was that??? I guess it was a double steal attempt but yuck! Let’s get a win today Cardinals!

Albert and the Cardinals lost to the Pirates 6-1 yesterday. Pujols was 0-3 and the Cardinals managed just 4 hits in total. Albert did grab 1 walk though. AP said after the game,
“I’m glad we’re going away then, so we can play better,” said Albert Pujols, who was 0-for-7 with two walks in the series and is batting .160. “I’ve seen what this team can do.”
Alright Albert – show us again!

Albert had his chance in this one. With the Cardinals trailing 3-2 in the bottom of the 9th – Albert Pujols came to the plate with the bases loaded and 2 outs to face Solomon Torres. This is the exact type situation you want your stud player in. He’ll come through right? Wrong. Pujols popped out to the third baseman to end the game in a 3-2 loss. Albert ended up 0-4 dropping his average to .170 on the year.
“That’s why the game keeps you humble,” Pujols said. “As I was stepping into the batter’s box, I saw myself getting a line drive back through the middle. He just made a great pitch.”
Pujols and the Cardinals will get back on track for Tuesday’s 12:10 game.

Finally. Game 11 of the season is what we have been waiting for. The Cardinals offense behind Albert Pujols finally erupted. The Redbirds beat up on the Brewers 10-2 on Sunday. They beat a solid pitcher in Ben Sheets to make it even sweeter. Albert finished 2-5 with 2 HR’s, 5 RBI’s and 2 Runs. Moved his average up to .186 and hopefully will continue rolling through April. Pujols and all the Cardinals wore number 42 in honor of Jackie Robinson during this game.
BEWARE: Don’t get this guy heated up – he’ll start to punish opposing teams!
Albert always keeps things in perspective because of his respect for this game. After the game he responded:
“Obviously, this year hasn’t been working out early,” Pujols said. “But just because I haven’t found myself at the plate I don’t want to go crazy.”
The Cardinals moved to 6-5 on the young season just a half game behind Cincinnati for 1st place. They now go up against the Pirates again so it could be a nice time to put together a little run.

Just not much to talk about in this game. Cardinals lose 3-2 and Pujols goes 0-4 moving the average to around .150! That’s it. Let’s get’em tomorrow.

Pujols and the Cardinals face Ben Sheets in the opening game of a 3 game series vs. the Brewers on Friday. The game starts at 7:10 at Busch!!! Albert has had lots of success against the righty over the years. Last season Albert went 3-7 vs. Sheets including 3 R and a SB. Check out his career stats vs. Sheets:
The K’s number is a little disturbing but Sheets can flat out bring it. His .393 career average is good enough to make this a bust out game for El Hombre. Take it to the bank!

Gotta love those sweeps – even if it’s against the bottom feeders in the NL Central. Albert got a hit – WOO HOO. Pujols went 1-4 with a walk increasing his average to a measly .176 on the year. The Cardinals now stand alone in first place for the time being. Could change quickly though. Albert – wake up buddy!!! No fear – He’ll be hitting .330 before the season is over.
