Despite our guy Albert Pujols blasting a solo homerun, and the Cardinals banging home five runs in 2 1/3 innings, they were not able to pick up a win on Monday. The 2008 homeopener was cut short due to rain. The Cardinals and Rockies will make the game up Tuesday night, at 7:15pm.
Tomorrow, Albert will face Rockies 29 year old righthander Aaron Cook. Let’s take a look at how Albert has done against Mr. Cook:
Cook in his career against the Cardinals:
So, no, Albert doesn’t get his opening day homerun. But it’s time to tee off against Mr. Cook, and come away with a season opening win on Tuesday!

Opening Day! Yes! The 2008 MLB season is officially here! The St. Louis Cardinals, who come in as a huge underdog, will open up their season Monday at home, against the defending National League Champion- Colorado Rockies. The Rockies will throw lefthander, Jeff Francis, while the Cardinals throw fireballer Adam Wainwright. This should be a good ball game. Let’s take a look at how Albert has done against the Rockies, and Francis:
Career v. Rockies:
So the man is hitting .348! Woah. Time to dominate the Rockies this week.
Career against Jeff Francis:
Okay, so Francis has done pretty well against El Hombre. It’s time to change those numbers. We say the Cardinals win a 8-3 ball game, while Albert goes 3-5 with a homerun and 3 rbi’s. A little bias for opening day? Probably, but it’s time for AP to dominate!

On Saturday March 29th, when the Springfield Cardinals host the St. Louis Cardinals at 1:10 on Hammonds Field, throwing out the first pitch to Cardinals slugger Albert Pujols will be James Lyons, a representative from the Down Syndrome Group of the Ozarks. Pujols family foundation shares in the mission to assist people with Down Syndrom, and also their family.
Mr. Lyons is 11 years old, and the son of Eddie and Cindy Lyons. He attends Reed Middle School and has played Little League Baseball for five years. James is a huge Baseball, and Cardinals fan, and has Down Syndrome.
The Down Syndrome Group of the Ozarks is a fairly new organization formed in Southwest Missouri. The initial mission was the build a network of support for individuals with Down Syndrome. The group has monthly meetings, and shares information for parents and educators.
Way to go Albert! Just another reason this guy is an all area top notch man!
Good luck in 08!

Nice writeup on how Albert is very confident he can avoid surgery not only this year, but forever!

Albert Pujols is getting much more rest this spring training than normal. What is the result? MASHING! He has a spring leading .875 slugging percentage and is just hitting the ball solid:
“I’m seeing the ball really well,” Pujols said, adding that he has used his extra days off to work in the cage. “I try to take advantage of those days off and take that extra swing. If I’m going to be greedy with my extra swings, that’s the day that I really want to take it.”
Keep it up AP!

Well, if Albert is really hurting bad, this man is super human. Albert has confirmed having a high grade tear of his injury. His doctors have confirmed, he will not be having surgery, as of now. This is in his right elbow, so it could effect his hitting, some say. It hasn’t bothered his hitting so far this spring, hitting .450 and hitting 3 bombs. Albert is quoted as saying: ” If it blows out it’s going to blow out, You can’t control that.”

So far, the Cardinals have just been mediocre this Spring. With a record of 5-7, the Cardinals have had some highlights, and some lowlights. Albert has once again been a highlight, putting away the questions about his injury.Albert is hitting .450, with 3homeruns, 3 doubles, 4 rbi’s and 6 walks. and seems to be seeing the ball pretty well.
Continue staying hot Albert!
