Albert in Full Stride

by admin on July 10, 2006

My heart almost sank when I watched the trainer come out of the dugout in the 10th inning to check on Albert Pujols after his triple.  Pujols came up a bit limp after rushing around the bases.  Luckily, this didn’t seem to be major as Pujols stayed in the game and sent the trainer back to the dugout.  Pujols ended the night 3-6 with 2 RBI’s against the Astros and broke his career long slump against Andy Pettite.  Everyone thought it was going to be another heroic finish by Albert Pujols as the game entered the 10th inning in a 5-5 tie.  But this time, Pujols couldn’t hit the HR.  He ONLY tripled!!!  He’s absolutely amazing.  His ability to come through in the clutch is brilliant.

With the all-star break here, Pujols enters the break with a .316 AVG, 29 HRs and 76 RBIs.  Not to shabby for a guy who missed 15 games.  I would expect much of the same from Pujols in the second half of the season, but for now, let’s just relax and enjoy what we’ve witnessed in the first half of this season.
