Our man Albert did it again! His two run homerun in the top of the third inning proved to be the game winner as the Cardinals beat the Padres 5-1 yesterday in the first game of a best of five series. Chris Carpenter went 6 1/3 strong innings, followed by Tyler Johnson, and Adam Wainwright as the Cardinals looked good in their win. For the first time in a long time the "A" lineup was in play for the Cardinals. With Edmonds back and healthy, along with Eckstein, the Cardinals bats are in place.
Now, on Thursday at 3pm the Cardinals will face the Padres tough lefty David Boomer Wells. Wells is 4-1 career against the Cardinals, and has had GREAT postseason success in his career. Our man Albert is 3-9 career against Wells, but has not hit a homerun yet off him. With Albert's 2-4, that pushed his career NLDS batting average to .310, and put his total homeruns in NLDS to 4.
Jeff Weaver will pitch for the Cardinals Thursday!
Keep checking back here for great postseason coverage!
