Cardinals set to take on the Royals

The Missouri battle. The St. Louis Cardinals, come in to the series with a 42-29 record, while the Royals sit at 28-42. So the difference is clear. One team is better than the other. But put the numbers aside for this series, and another coming up in two weeks, the Cardinals and Royals have alot of pride to play for.

The Cardinals will be missing their top Royal killer, in Albert Pujols, who is a career. 394 hitter against Kansas City in 33 games.  In those 33 games, Albert has hit 10 homeruns. The Cardinals will also be without the services of Yadier Molina, who suffered a concussion in Sunday’s game. Ace of the staff, Adam Wainwright will not pitch in this series, as he sits on the DL.

For the Royals, Mark Grudzielanek, a former Cardinal leads the team in hitting with a .305 batting average.  Jose Guillen has been the Royals main power threat, with 11 homeruns, and 53 rbi’s. If Joey Gathright gets on base, look out, as he leads the team with 17 stolen bases.

Tonight the Royals will throw out Kyle Davies, who is 2-0 on the year with an era of 1.53. He will face Joel Piniero for the Cardinals, who is 2-3, with a 4.41.

Wednesday the Royals will send their staff ace in Brian Bannister to the mound. Bannister is 5-6 with a 5.00 era. He will take on Braden Looper, of the Cardinals, who is 8-5 with a 4.34.

The final game of the three game series will feature young star Zach Greinke, 5-4, 3.48 against the Cardinals’ Todd Wellemeyer 7-2, 3.67.

Good luck to the Cardinals, before they travel to Boston over the weekend, and Detroit and Kansas City next week!

Best of luck to Albert on his recovery!!!!

M. Grudzielanek
