Game 12: Chance to Shine

pujols_throw_bat.jpgAlbert had his chance in this one.  With the Cardinals trailing 3-2 in the bottom of the 9th – Albert Pujols came to the plate with the bases loaded and 2 outs to face Solomon Torres.  This is the exact type situation you want your stud player in.  He’ll come through right?  Wrong.  Pujols popped out to the third baseman to end the game in a 3-2 loss.  Albert ended up 0-4 dropping his average to .170 on the year.

“That’s why the game keeps you humble,” Pujols said. “As I was stepping into the batter’s box, I saw myself getting a line drive back through the middle. He just made a great pitch.”

Pujols and the Cardinals will get back on track for Tuesday’s 12:10 game.
