Albert Pujols has a lot of pressure on him this season. With his 2012 contract situation still up in the air, the media is ready to pounce on his every move. This opening day was not a great game for the great Albert Pujols. The slugger went 0-5 hitting into 3 double plays in the Cardinals loss to the Padres.
“Just a bad game, man. Am I going to beat myself up? Just a bad game. That’s the way it goes. It’s baseball.”
That was the comment from Pujols after the game. Media is already bringing up the fact that the contract situation may be too much pressure for him to handle. On one hand – I agree he should have got this taken care of before the season started. But on the other hand – I don’t think his 0-5 had anything to do with his contract. He is a professional. A professional hitter. And I wouldn’t put it past Albert Pujols to go 4-5 with two homeruns on Saturday. He probably just wishes they played Friday. Let’s go Albert – bounce back!
